Soledad is a beautiful woman who despises men because she considers them to be less than herself. On the other hand, Daniel Clemente has won the “Hacienda” next to Melquisedec in a card game. He then travels to Puerto Adentro. At his arrival to this land he falls in love with Soledad and is immediately determined to make her his wife. Initially, Soledad’s lack of interest towards men makes her reject Daniel Clemente’s love. The evening that Daniel Clemente wins his land, he makes Victoria, the owner of the apartment where they played, his lover. Daniel marks Victoria´s life, and from this night on she is determined to keep him as her lover. The arrival of Daniel Clemente, a model like man, causes great impression among the women in town; Elda, who had three lovers before Daniel, Magdalena, Soledad’s sister, Soledad and Victoria; who had traveled to this town in search of wealth by marrying Melquisedec. In this way Daniel Clemente’s life becomes a constant battle of becoming richer than Melquisedec, of gaining Soledad’s love and of fighting Melquisedec’s jealousy because he is determined in not letting Daniel overpower him in his own territory.
