SYNOPSIS

THE OTHER STRIPE OF THE TIGER takes us to a moment in history when America was the continent that accepted the revolutionary thoughts of a Europe, which fought to leave feudalism. America not only opened it’s doors but also welcomed people such as Humboldt, Garibaldi and Codazzi, who came here seeking for things the old continent could not provide for them : freedom, democracy and a new concept of Republic. The adventure of this new world was attractive for them and THE OTHER STRIPE OF THE TIGER is the narration of the life of one of this so called “adventurers”, Geo Von Lengerke, a german of high cradle that sought his exile, pursued by the Kaiser for wanting to establish the unity of his country. His life became a legend in the region of Santander since he perhaps lived during one of the most convulsive moments of our national history, the eternal struggle between centralism and federalism. With the idea of free change, Lengerke created a commercial interaction of exporting and importing; situation that aroused the animadversion of our craftsmen, who were opposed violently to the bringing of European products: exotic liquors, porcelains, fine fabrics and many other innovations which came to form part of the Santandereanos´ household. Because of this many admired him while many admired him while many others hated him. Little by little this european revolutionary became a feudal gentleman who created his own kingdom among luxuries, women and parties which were scandalizing to the then present society. He is often remembered by his dream of bringing a grand piano over from Europe; it had to cross the oceans, soar through the Magdalena River and deliriously travel through the rugged cordilleras to arrive safely into the living room of his european like castle, located in the middle of the tropic. Finally his back bent at the uselessness of his good deeds and from his efforts only the roads he constructed under the indian trails, his struggles and the adventures they all shared remained until America finally devoured him in the maze of it´s exhuberance. R.C.N. TELEVISION has wanted to stamp a cosmopolita spirit into this serie by using the best of the colombian, russian, polish, german and north american professionals who represent colombia’s great immigration of intelligence. The war, the breath taking passion and our landscape make us re live this hero´s adventure which we have wanted to recapture from that past XIX century.
