SYNOPSIS
It all begins when Toño, a construction worker, accidentally discovers that he is adopted. The strong determination of his mother for not talking about this matter, confirms to him that there is a secret in his past. On his own account, Toño undertakes the search for his "identity". He needs to know who he is, where he comes from and where he is going. In his investigations he discovers to his great surprise, that the adopted one is not him but Adrian, his twin brother who was separated from him before they reached the first year of age. Toño does not know that his twin brother is a successful architect, heir to one of the most prestigious construction companies of the city. He does not know that his brother is the boyfriend of the architect Margarita Vera, Toño’s boss, who in an unfair decision and without even knowing the worker, fires him. Toño looks for the person that fired him unfairly and the lost brother from his childhood, far from realizing that with the finding of one suspect, he would also find the other. It is better not to look… Adrian has been entangled with his cousin Bernardo’s wife and the man, tired of the abuses of the little genius boy, is looking forward to killing him. Just when Adrian realizes that someone is trying to kill him, and notifies the police of this fact, his twin brother Toño is doing an infinite number of innocent calls to the company and Adrian’s house, with the sole purpose of contacting him, and it is Margarita who innocently arranges the meeting between the worker and the architect. When the day of the meeting comes, Adrian attends the event protected by a police operation. Toño failed to hug his brother when he is handcuffed and accused of trying to kill Adrian. For there is nothing that helps Toño, even if he proclaimed he is no offender because Adrian himself asks for his arrest. Then Toño sees Margarita, “his” boss, jumping over the police fence. The woman, who left him without a job, is launching herself towards him to protect him from the police’s harassment, while examining him in amazement is unable to believe what she sees: Toño is identical to her boyfriend Adrian! Amid his anguish, Toño finds two seconds to regret that this beautiful person is non other than Adrian’s girlfriend. Life has just put in front of Margarita, the humble version of her boyfriend, the replica of the man she has loved and admired. For her, the encounter of the twins means an open door to Adrian’s soul. To the "unconscious reasons" for his inability to love… his excess in suicidal drugs. From that encounter with Toño, Margarita makes Adrian find the biological mother, Toño’s cousins and bind him to the Mirador neighbourhood… And to his surprise, Adrian replaces Toño and is introduced to his brother’s world where he is received as one more of the gang because they all confuse him with Toño. Adrian quivers when he is in front of Leo, his biological mother, and shudders when recognizes the thousand details that speak of the love of a mother. No doubt, Leo loves Toño deeply and to Adrian, is not difficult to assume that their economic situation forced her to give one of them up for adoption. But… why him? Adrian tries to address Leonor to clear some doubts but just then, the stunning Tania; Toño’s girlfriend arrives from the U.S. ready to marry him. Adrian has in front of him, a hottie of fierce temper and untamable spirit that mistakens him from the worker, and Adrian is not prepared to dodge a woman he likes, regardless of being his brother’s girlfriend! The consequences of Adrian’s daring actions are soon to arise. Toño discovers that Adrian has enjoyed some time with Tania and does not express the slightest sign of remorse. Toño filled with anger threatens him to death in front of Margarita, without giving away the real reason for which he is rejecting his brother. Why make Margarita suffer? Toño no longer wants to know anything about Adrian, he no longer wants his brother to be close to his mom, he does not want to run into him in his life again. But surprisingly, the unpredictable Adrian offers Toño the most preposterous job of his life: to replace him in the chairmanship of his construction company, so that he can go to rehabilitation in Puerto Rico. Toño rejects the offer and tries to get away from Adrian, when the sound of some gunshots makes him return to the place where he left his brother. Embraced with the inert body of Adrian, Toño is caught between the need to go to the police or prosecuting the murderer. The love for Adrian decides everything. Someone in Adrian’s world wanted to remove him from the road and Toño has the duty to prosecute whoever took his brother away, when he had just found him. So, after burying Adrian, Toño goes to Margarita pretending that Adrian travelled to comply with his rehabilitation program. They both have the mission of replacing him while Adrian returns. Surprised by the way things turn; Margarita does not easily accept the task of helping Antonio to replace Adrian, and with a gut feeling, rejects the bricklayer whose single and urgent mission is to trace the whereabouts of the murderer. But without even knowing, she ends up seduced by him, worshiping the nobleness of one in the body of the other, and moved by everything that the bricklayer has, but Adrian lacks… until she begins to see him with reservations, with fear… Adrian does not come back, no signs of life and Antonio, the twin, seems to be the author of her boyfriend’s strange disappearance …
