She is a sexy, stunning woman from Cali. She owns the restaurant where Cecilia works with her friends, and is also the coordinator of an illegal immigrant’s network that arrives to New York. She is in charge of receiving them and placing them in warehouses and factories where they secretly work and give her a weekly percentage of every hour worked. When Alex arrives to New York to work, Berenice becomes obsessed with him, and without caring that he’s married to Rosa Maria, she does all kind of tricks to keep him by her side and make his marriage fail. 

She is Magnolia’s older sister. She has a strong character; she’s used to saying what she thinks without regrets. She worries about being well kept, and though the years have done their thing, she looks young for her age.

She is Alvaro’s single mother, her only son, who lives in Spain supposedly studying, but the truth is that he is doing four years in jail for drug traffic. He tells all sorts of lies to justify his limited calls and she thinks her son has forgotten about her.

Rubiela is in love with Philippe and with deep sadness she discovers that he feels something for his sister. She no longer has to look for her rival; she is right there, working besides her; it’s her own sister. 

Rosa Maria and Cecilia’s father and Magnolia’s husband. He is a wise man, a good person, calm, and tremendously happy. He is a hopeless romantic and is in love with his wife. Due to the loss of his farm, Nazario declines and his relationship with Magnolia is tremendously affected.

At his 70 years of age he travels to Bogota to fight for his marriage and recover his wife’s love, but Magnolia is another person and their relationship will never be the same. And, without suspicion of who is to blame for the distance between them, he becomes Philippe’s best friend. 

Juanita and Pacho’s mother and Rosa Maria’s younger sister. She is as sensual and beautiful as her mother and sister. Unstable, tough, and very demanding. She went to New York as an immigrant to get away from Aurelio, her husband. Cecilia works very hard to pay her debt with Berenice and send her children and mother money.

She is in love with Guido, her co-worker, but Israel, her lawyer, is obsessed with her and will do what he can to separate them.

Cecilia gives her children a wealthy life that she can’t keep up with and this obsession will lead her to do things she didn’t think she was capable of doing before. 

Very practical, a non-believer in prayer, joyful, lives a comfortable live, and is beautiful. She is the center of her family. There is no decision that isn’t approved by her. She has been married to Nazario for thirty eight years, a man twenty years older than her that still loves her as day one. Her favorite daughter is Cecilia, and has a distant relationship with Rosa Maria. The difference between her and Nazario became noticeable and she feels she is still too young and beautiful to live locked up.

In the city she starts to discover those aspects of her life that had been asleep for a long time; vanity, femininity, the will to live and to feel. Magnolia and her sister will fall in love with the same man, Philippe, a romantic French player. 

Rosa Maria’s husband and Michael’s father. He is the typical man of his region: astute, kind, sociable, a dreamer, and a bit over the top.

Alex has always wanted to give his son and wife a comfortable life like his sister-in-law gives her children from New York. Overwhelmed by poverty and the lack of opportunities, he decides to follow Cecilia’s footsteps and goes to the northern country in search of the American dream. His dream becomes a nightmare: he gets involved in an immigrant traffic organization, is filled with debts, and is threatened with harming his family if he says anything. Berenice, the coordinator of the organization, becomes obsessed with him, offers him money, lowers his debt, and seduces him until she makes him fall. 

He is the son of a Colombian father and an American mother with German ancestry. He lived his first five years of childhood in Colombia, but was later separated from his father and taken to the U.S. He’s a successful engineer at Goodfit International, an important multinational company. And a disciplined temperament has led him to ascend rapidly becomming one of the most promising executives at the company. He is sent to Colombia to manage an apparel factory as the General Manager for Latin America. Through Rosa Maria, David rediscovers his roots, looks for his father, and gets to know and see the country with other eyes.

He falls in love with Rosa Maria without imagining that she has a relationship with him out of convenience, to the point of hiding that she has a son, had been married, and is in a relationship with him in order to get the American visa to rescue her son that lives with his father in New York. 

Raised in Colombia among the coffee trees, proud of being Colombian, her roots, and her culture. Simple, happy, and hard-working. Family and the farm are the most important things to her. She was left in charge of her nephews, whom she loves as her own children. Magnolia, her mother, compares her all the time to her sister Cecilia, which she considers the example of the family.

The countryside was no longer profitable in the country and they lost their farm. Alex, her husband, believes the solution is to follow her sister-in-law’s steps and migrates to the U.S. Rosa Maria and Michael, her son, travel to New York to reunite with Alex. The boy is able to get to his father’s arms, but Berenice has Rosa Maria deported. She tries to do all she can legally to have her son brought back, but it’s useless. Desperately, she begs and knocks on all the doors she can to get the visa again, but this doesn’t happen. She never thought that the only way of getting her son back is by conveniently marrying a foreigner.
